I would like to compare two maps of different scales, 1:10000 and 1:50000, using GIS. The data sets include 2 vector polygons, of areas coded for Land Use Capabilities (LUC). I am mostly interested in the LUC categorical veritable (classes 1-8), but I also have the inventoried continues variables that LUC polygons are derived from e.g. slop, soil, aspect, vegetation, rock-type, erosion/ erosion susceptibility. What are the current and historical techniques to statistically and quantitatively compare maps like the ones I just described? Please advise me on papers and ideas.

Thanks!
